Raspberry smoothie recipe

There is one thing I require in every smoothie. And that is that they are packed full of flavour! So when coming up with this recipe I had to ensure that was the case. Along with creating something quick and easy to throw together.

This smoothie has minimal ingredients and is ready in just 5 minutes!

What You’ll Need to Make This Raspberry Smoothie Recipe:

The ingredients for this recipe are pretty simple, here’s what you’ll need to put it all together…

Raspberry smoothie ingredients

Raspberries

Frozen raspberries give this smoothie a thick creamy consistency as well as a sweet and slightly tangy/ tart taste. They also give this smoothie a vibrant red hue, which contrasts nicely with the yoghurt, both in colour and flavour.

You could use fresh raspberries if you would like a thinner smoothie, however, but you will lose some of the texture.

TIP: Freeze your own fresh raspberries!

You can do this by laying them all out on a tray (making sure that none are touching) and then placing the tray in the freezer. When frozen, transfer to a container and store until required. Now you’ve got some frozen raspberries that are all nice individual pieces, rather than one giant clump.

Yoghurt

I recommend going for a thick plain variety such as a Greek yoghurt for this raspberry smoothie recipe. As there are so few ingredients it’s important to use one of good quality with a nice flavour. So use your favourite!

You could also mix it up with coconut yoghurt.

Orange Juice

A little bit of orange juice helps to sweeten the mixture, to balance it all out so it’s not too tart. as well as add flavour. I like to opt for freshly squeezed wherever possible. The aim is to make a smoothie that has a thick texture and adding a splash of orange juice ensures it doesn’t get too thin and watery.

TIP: when freshly squeezing an orange make sure to first release the juices. You can do this by rolling it on a bench with your palms, applying gentle pressure. This should not only make it easier to squeeze out the juice but also give you more volume!

Honey

Similar to orange juice, adds sweetness, to mellow out the tanginess from the other ingredients. If you would like your smoothie less sweet you can reduce the amount of honey that is added or remove it completely.

Seasonal Fruits

Take this smoothie to the next level in terms of visual appeal as the final touch. I opted for orange, nectarine, blueberries and strawberries, and used some cookie cutters to cut out hearts and stars. I highly encourage you to use whatever seasonal fruit you can access and have some fun!

You can get creative and cut out all types of different shapes as you please. And you can even make it themed, like love hearts for valentines/ galentines.

Garnish with as much or as little as you like!

Tips:

Add Edible Flowers

If you’d like to make these smoothies even prettier, a great way to do so is with a scattering of edible flowers!

All you have to do is add in a few amongst or in replacement of the garnishings and you have yourself a party!

To make this a full-on breakfast, you could transform it into a smoothie bowl! Just pour into your favourite bowl, add your fruits and then spoonfuls of your favourite cereal to top it all off!
