Hot chocolates have to be one of my top 5 drinks of all time without a doubt! I might even say it’s one of my top 2. Quite honestly, I could probably have one every day if I wasn’t trying to hold myself back and diversify my drink intake.
Coincidently, I’ve also found myself obsessed with peanut butter as of late, which sparked this very idea. Plus peanut butter and chocolate just make the perfect pairing!
There’s no better time than right now to enjoy a hot chocolate in these colder months! It’s like a comforting hug that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Read on for how to make a mug for yourself…
How to Make this Hot Chocolate Recipe:
Follow the following steps for a delicious cup of indulgence…
Make a Dark Chocolate Ganache
- This recipe starts by combining dark chocolate (I used 70%), caster sugar and cream in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Use a whisk to break up the chocolate and then once it has just melted, remove the pan from the heat.
- Transfer your newly made dark chocolate ganache into a shallow bowl to create the chocolate peanut butter rim!
Dip Mugs into the Chocolate Ganache
- Dip the rim of your desired mug into the chocolate ganache and then coat it with chopped peanuts.
- Reserve the leftover peanuts for topping your hot chocolate and then set mugs aside, standing upright so the chocolate can slowly drip down the sides of the mug.
Prepare the Whipped Peanut Butter Cream
- The next step is to combine smooth peanut butter, cream and icing sugar in a medium bowl.
- Whisk together until soft peaks have formed.
- Then you may transfer it into a piping bag with a star tip nozzle attached (optional)
- Set aside in the fridge.
Make Hot Chocolates
- Start by heating the chocolate ganache with your desired milk in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
- You may select any milk you prefer such as whole, trim or even alternative milk such as soy, oat or almond for a bit of a different flavour.
- Whisk the mixture together until well combined and thoroughly heated through
Pour Hot Chocolate
- Distribute the hot chocolate mixture into your prepared mugs.
Garnish and Enjoy
- Pipe or dollop on the whipped peanut butter cream, followed by a swirl of fresh smooth peanut butter, the reserved chopped peanuts and chocolate if desired.
- Enjoy while still warm and delicious!
